Victoria's Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) has awarded Knosys a contract to deploy the Knosys knowledge management platform.
The OPP will deploy Knosys to help solicitors better prepare for and pursue legal cases inside and outside of court. The OPP prosecutes serious offences and conducts criminal appeals in Victoria's court system and the High Court of Australia.
Knosys is a platform designed to help organisations better capture and manage information across multiple data sources such as disparate business units and IT platforms.
OPP awarded Knosys the contract following a three-month proof-of-concept deployment of the platform which commenced in June. Solicitors will be able to call up information on the platform via desktop computers or while in court using iPads.
Knosys CEO John Thompson said the platform will help deliver “new and dynamic policy, procedure, research and training content to the legal practice. In concert with providing engaging content, Knosys tools are contextually presented in the form of decision trees, calculators and process guidance.”
He said Knosys uses information virtualisation technologies to contextually surface external content onto a central platform.
“Over 10 internal and external content sources will be integrated into the OPP’s Knosys platform. This will create a superior user experience for the OPP’s solicitors, with Knosys becoming the trusted one-stop shop for knowledge, presented simply in a single web user interface.”
